Dr. Deborah L. Cole-Sedivy graduated from The Ohio State University in 1977 with a B.S. in Pharmacy and completed a combined residency and Master’s Degree in Clinical Hospital Pharmacy and Administration in 1980. After working as a Clinical Hospital Pharmacist at OSU for two years, she decided she wanted to be more involved in hands-on patient care. She enrolled in medical school at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio, graduating 4th in her class and the top woman in 1986 and receiving the Janet M. Glasgow Award for Academic Excellence.
Dr. Cole-Sedivy completed a general rotating internship at Doctor’s Hospital of Columbus, Ohio from July 1986 to June 1987. She then became the first osteopathic physician to complete the Grant Medical Center Family Practice Training Program, 1987-1989, and was recertified in 1995, 2001 and 2008. She also became Board Certified through the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP) in 2007. Dr. Cole-Sedivy relocated to the area where she was raised near Lake Erie in the Lorain/Avon Lake area and practiced full spectrum Family Medicine including Obstetrics from 1989-1991. She then returned to Columbus and joined the OSU MedOhio Family Care Centers, assuming the Medical Directorship of the entire system of primary care, urgent care and occupational medicine centers within the first year. She retained a practice along with those responsibilities and after nearly a decade decided to return to private practice in September of 2001. Dr. Cole-Sedivy provided Obstetrical Care for the Columbus Health Department Perinatal program from 1992-2000.
As of December 2002, Dr. Cole-Sedivy and Joyce Casey, CNP, opened Monarch Health Family Medicine and Cosmetic Therapy. Dr. Cole-Sedivy maintains privileges at OSU Medical Center and Grant Medical Center. She resides in Upper Arlington with her husband Chuck, and her two children, Nick and Phillip.
